Who uses LEED?
Architects, real estate professionals, facility managers, engineers, interior designers, construction managers, lenders and government officials all use LEED to help transform the built environment to sustainability. Provincial and local governments are adopting LEED for public-owned and public-funded buildings.
What is the LEED rating system?
LEED Rating Systems are developed through an open, consensus-based process led by LEED committees. Each volunteer committee is composed of a diverse group of practitioners and experts representing a cross-section of the building and construction industry.
To earn LEED certification, the project must satisfy all of the prerequisites and the minimum number of points to attain the certification level. Having satisfied the prerequisites, the project is rated according to the degree of compliance for the certification levels:
|Certified:||26 to 32 points.|
|Silver:||33 to 38 points.|
|Gold:||39 to 51 points.|
|Platinum:||52 or more points.|
|Possible Max:||69 points|
- To improve the building’s environmental and economic performance;
- To promote the use of proven and innovative practices, standards and technologies;
- To increase the well-being of occupants;
- To improve the quality of the environment in the whole community.
